Wanted: Qualified Candidates Seeking the Fast Track to Employment

The NASP Career Expo and Candidate Interview Service offer training, a reception, get-acquainted sessions, and employment interviews in a friendly, businesslike setting—all at the NASP 2010 Annual Convention in Chicago. Nothing beats meeting face-to-face with potential employers, including representatives from school districts, private schools, agencies, regional service areas (BOCES), universities, and professional recruiting firms.

Training

Job seekers won’t want to miss the most popular special feature of the NASP Convention Career Service, The Professional in Transition: Getting and Keeping Your First Job as a School Psychologist [SE02], 2:00–5:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 3 (sponsored by Sopris West Educational Services, A Cambium Learning Company). Back by popular demand (and always well attended), this seminar is a comprehensive warm-up for compiling an effective resume and cover letter; developing a quality portfolio; conducting a powerful interview; and managing your time, stress, and workload. Also included are tips on how to make the best use of the NASP Online Career Center. The fee is $15, and registration is required.

Convention Career Service Reception

A new feature for the 2010 Convention Career Service, this reception is a further opportunity to meet and talk with employers. This activity is exclusively for NASP members participating in the [SE02]session, The Professional in Transition: Getting and Keeping Your First Job as a School Psychologist and will follow immediately. Learn more about open positions directly from representatives scheduled to attend the Convention Career Service. Interviews will not be conducted at this time. Employer participation at the reception is optional.

The School Psychology Career Expo

The Career Expo is an opportunity for NASP members to meet informally with employers. The Career Expo setting is a time for introductions and brief discussions. Employers will have interview sign-up sheets and may choose to schedule future interview appointments during the Career Expo, if desired.

Candidate Interview Service—Free for Candidates! (Available to NASP members only.)

The NASP Candidate Interview Service offers 2 days of interviews in a proctored setting. Interviews are conducted continuously and usually are limited to 30–45 minutes, each.
