NASP 2010 Annual Convention

Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Credit

Convention participants can earn continuing professional development (CPD) credits for attending most convention activities. The NASP 2010 Annual Convention offers 4 full days of educational sessions that are included in the registration fee, averaging 8 hours per day of CPD-eligible time. Additional CPD credit is available by participating in optional NASP Convention Workshops that extend into the evening hours and on Saturday, March 6.

Advanced Sessions Offering NASP-Approved Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Credit

The Chicago convention will include a strand of sessions on a variety of subjects such as ethics, legal issues, and topics of interest to trainers that are specifically designed for advanced practitioners. Several of these sessions will be sponsored by the Society for the Study of School Psychology (SSSP) and will target improvement of participants’ research, statistics, and methodology skills. Certain others will be sponsored by the Nationally Certified School Psychologists (NCSP) Board and will focus on Tier 2 and 3 interventions.

Attendees of these CPD sessions will be eligible to receive a certificate of attendance documenting NASP-approved CPD credit. Participants who want documentation of attendance will need to sign in at the beginning of each session, stay for the entire session, and complete and submit an evaluation at the end of the session. The NASP-approved CPD sessions count toward the new NCSP requirement of NASP-approved credit for a portion of renewal CPD. This is an added value, as the NASP-approved CPD sessions are included with your convention registration!

The number of NASP-approved continuing professional development credits offered for the advanced sessions and the NASP Convention Workshops is specified in the information about each session, which can be found in the information about workshops on this website, and in the convention final program. Participants who attend the advanced sessions or NASP Convention Workshops can pick up CPD letters of attendance verification at the end of each session attended. Please note that CPD letters of attendance verification will not be mailed to attendees.

The convention general session, featured sessions, special sessions, mini-skills, papers, poster sessions, and symposia may qualify for CPD credits. No letters of attendance verification will be awarded at the conclusion of these sessions, however. For additional information about continuing professional development, see the convention final program on site, or contact the NASP Certification Department at (866) 331-6277 or (301) 657-0270, or e-mail cert@naspweb.org.
