WS08: Brief Solution-Focused Counseling in the Schools: A Skills-Based Workshop

Tuesday, February 12, 2013 10:00 AM–5:00 PM

This workshop teaches core skills of Brief Solution-Focused Counseling, a culture-sensitive, research-supported approach to resolving behavioral and social–emotional problems at all grade levels. Participants will learn how to build cooperative relationships with “resistant” students, use “solution talk” and change-focused questions, develop creative interventions from students’ strengths and resources, write therapeutic letters, and collect client feedback. Videotapes and practice activities are used to teach skills that participants can apply the very next day on the job.
