WS11: Assessment of English Language Learners—Intermediate

Participants are expected to be familiar with basic issues in evaluation of English language learners, understand the influence of instructional language on cognitive and academic development, and have knowledge about current methods typically used with diverse populations. Using lecture, demonstration, and guided case study examples, this workshop will provide intermediate-level instruction in the use of the Culture-Language Interpretive Matrix, discuss its empirical foundations, and review its application in systematically addressing the central issue of validity that underlies the question of difference versus disorder. Guidance will be provided on the central issues in evaluating the validity and interpretation of test performance.
