PI056: Summer Literacy Prevention Program: Lessons Learned

Thursday, February 20, 2014 10:00 AM–10:45 AM

Description:

Will a child gain reading achievement throughout the summer with a volunteer-based reading program, or does there need to be a certified teacher? This discussion will be based upon the findings of a large-scale, research-based, summer reading program. The Summer Reading Explorer’s program is a grant-funded, reading intervention summer program for risking kindergartners and first graders. Participants will be engaged in a discussion about the obstacles we faced and what we learned along the way.
