WS018: Dyscalculia and Other Mathematical Learning Difficulties in School-Age Children

Wednesday, February 19, 2014 2:30 PM–5:30 PM

This workshop will focus on characteristics of school-age children who have mathematical learning difficulties. The objectives of this workshop are to familiarize the participants with the cognitive and environmental contributors to mathematical difficulties, particularly those that can be targeted for child assessment, instruction, or teacher preparation. It also will review current debates on the identification of mathematics learning disability and dyscalculia. The workshop includes lecture and emphasis on research findings, with some discussion of select cases and a review of resources for identifying research-based interventions and practices.
