Thursday, February 20, 2014 8:30 AM–3:30 PM
Friday, February 21, 2014 8:30 AM–11:30 AM

This workshop is applicable to all grade levels. Through direct instruction, role-playing, and videotaped cases, participants will be able to (a) describe how different explanations for behavioral challenges can lead to dramatically different approaches to intervention; (b) identify cognitive skills that are central to adaptively handling life’s social, emotional, and behavioral challenges; (c) identify and prioritize unsolved problems precipitating challenging behavior; (d) describe the three mechanisms by which adults handle unsolved problems and unmet expectations in children (Plans A, B, and C); and (e) collaborate with students to solve problems and simultaneously teach lagging skills.
