WS037: School Violence: Early Detection and Intervention

Friday, February 21, 2014 8:30 AM–11:30 AM

The tragedy of school violence fills us with sadness and anger. Education on early detection and intervention to prevent violence empowers our educators and students. This workshop will use lecture and video clips about key risk factors for violence, the pathway to intended violence, leakage, and warning signs of violence. The challenges of coordination and reporting will be explored, with a highlight on the need for a comprehensive approach, including education and a threat assessment team.
