MS007: Determining a Pattern of Strengths and Weaknesses in SLD Identification

Description:

After reviewing the pattern of strengths and weaknesses (PSW) models, an integrated approach is proposed. Procedures for conducting a hypothesis-driven, selective, cross-battery assessment of psychological processes that combines cognitive scales, rating scales, and specific processing scales are overviewed. Psychometric methods for statistically analyzing the data to determine a PSW are reviewed. It concludes with recommendations for applying PSW results to SLD identification. Practitioners will learn procedures for identifying a psychological processes PSW during SLD evaluations.
