PO064: Screening Young Children for Autism with Behavior Rating Scales

Thursday, February 20, 2014 3:30 PM–5:00 PM

Three behavior rating scales were evaluated to determine if any scales on the instruments could distinguish between toddlers and preschoolers with autism from other referred children. Very few differences were found and even those scales had limited practical usefulness. School psychologists need to know the characteristics and limitations of such scales at being able to screen for the possibility of an autism spectrum disorder.
