PA070: Evaluating Tier 1 Classroom Practices: The Utility of Observational Methods

An observational approach for assessing classroom environments will be described. This approach involves observing teaching practices and student engagement simultaneously in order to identify practices that promote academic engagement and learning. Research results supporting the utility of this approach will be discussed. Practitioners will learn how this approach can be applied for the purposes of monitoring and improving Tier 1 practices.
