MS034: The Neuropsychology of Mathematics: Diagnosis and Intervention

Friday, February 21, 2014 12:00 PM–1:50 PM

This workshop will explore how young children learn and acquire basic mathematical skills from a brain-based educational perspective. There will be a discussion on three primary ways in which numbers are formatted in the brain, as well as the role of working memory and executive functioning skills in learning basic math facts. Specific intervention techniques that promote number-sense for elementary aged students will be demonstrated throughout the workshop.
