Emotion regulation is essential for a child’s mental health and school success. This mini-skills session will provide a comprehensive overview of developmental, cultural, and educational aspects of emotion regulation. It will discuss: (1) developmental trajectory of emotion regulation; (2) the role of culture and parenting in children’s socio-emotional learning; (3) how emotions and emotion regulation impact learning; and (4) therapeutic and classroom-based interventions which facilitate effective emotion regulation in children.
