MS090: The Neurodevelopmental Model of Comprehensive Assessment in the Schools

Thursday, February 20, 2014 12:00 PM–1:50 PM

Multiple models of comprehensive assessment address the examination of eligibility for special education. While most reflect the neurodevelopmental language mentioned in special education laws, none create a parsimonious system that reflects how the development of the brain intersects with the demands of everyday living. The Neurodevelopmental Model rests on neuroscientific literature to directly describe the links between brain and behavior, and to translate cognitive processes and cognitive product thereby providing a prescription for intervention.
