Swine Flu (H1N1) Resources
NASP is
joining with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the
Department of Education, and other education and health organizations to share
information regarding the possible Swine Flu (H1N1) epidemic here in the United
States. Awareness and prevention efforts are critical to reducing spread of the
disease and minimizing its effects.
Parent Resource
NASP has
partnered with the National Association of School Nurses (NASN) and the
National Parent Teacher Association (NPTA) to develop and disseminate a handout
for parents on talking to their children about the flu virus. "Talking to Children About the Flu (Novel H1N1): A Parent Resource" is available to parents and
educators to be copied and distributed without specific permission from NASP,
NASN, or NPTA. You can also listen to this handout as a podcast here, read the Spanish handout, or listen to the Spanish version.
Important Information Available Online
Influenza
is thought to spread person-to-person through coughing or sneezing. People
should stay home if they feel any flu-like symptoms, take care to wash hands,
etc., and call their doctors if symptoms become severe.
